CIVIC (Center for Civilians in Conflict) wanted to create an interactive ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ (CYOA) experience for their website. This experience seeks to reveal and highlight the horrifying impacts of war through the user’s journey and the decisions made by the user. At the end of the journey, there is a ‘conflict results’ page that includes a death counter and details on the impacts the user’s decisions made.
To help make the microsite more engaging and interactive, we implemented a horizontal scroll, custom collages, a journey progress bar, and light scrolling animations. There is a slight background gradient to give the site a more textural feel, and the colors red and neon blue were implemented for the two journey directions to help emphasize the content and draw the user’s eye forward.
